First Visit

Your Appointment with Us

Doctors Huey or Adamian, along with your referring dental office will ensure that you will get the appropriate appointment you need. You can be assured that before any treatment is begun, a thorough examination will be done to diagnose orofacial pain, pulpal injury and to determine your need of endodontic therapy. If you should have any questions, before, during or after your appointment, please do not hesitate to ask or call. Your comfort is our main concern.

Consultation/exam:

The consultation appointment allows us to do a comprehensive examination, to diagnose orofacial pain, pulpal injury and to determine if the tooth in question is a good candidate for endodontic therapy. We will also fully explain the diagnosis and treatment options to you.

Root Canal Consultation & Treatment:

After a complete examination and explanation of the diagnosis and treatment plan, root canal treatment will be completed if necessary. You can expect to be in our office about 90 minutes. Tell me more about treatment.

Endodontic Surgery Consultation:

This visit allows us to do a thorough examination and to explain your pre-surgical and surgical options.

Endodontic Surgery:

Your Endodontic Surgery treatment will be done at this appointment after your endodontic surgery consultation. You can expect to be in our office about 90 minutes. Tell me more about this.

Emergency Care:

This is a visit reserved for those patients who are referred to our office while in discomfort. Treatment at this time will be directed toward the relief of your discomfort. Time is allotted each day for our specialists to begin endodontic therapy. Your root canal treatment will be completed at a second appointment on another day.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your appointment with us:

  • Your endodontic referral slip and any X-rays if applicable
  • A list of all medications you are presently taking
  • If you have dental insurance, please bring your identification card(s). This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under the age of 18 at their initial visit.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.)

Your comfort is our main concern.

“Will it hurt?” Most endodontic procedures are performed to relieve the pain of a toothache caused by inflammation of the pulp or the surrounding tissues. With the many advances in technology, most patients say that it is no more painful than getting a “filling”. The only difference they feel between these two is that the root canal takes a little longer than a filling.

For your comfort we can provide additional forms of pain and/or anxiety control:

  • Pillows and blankets
  • Personal music selections
  • Video glasses
  • Television/movies
  • Nitrous Oxide ($)
  • Oral medications such as triazolam

Conscious Sedation (IV sedation with anesthesiologist):

This option requires a pre-operative consultation, a physical examination and an anesthesiologist. Please have nothing to eat or drink 8 hours prior to your procedure. You will also need an adult to drive you home.
